Live Gently – Mixed Media Art Journal Page

20190519_162636.jpgHello once again Lulu Art peeps!

The video this week is the third and last in a series of three.

They all used Dina Wakley new release products. The new 6×6 white journal along with the pastel colours in the heavy body acrylic especially but also the wonderful ‘Branches’ stencil & mask set (LOVE this one!!)

All three of these pages were done in the one sitting.

This is how I would usually work, flipping between pages, using pages as palettes and then those same palette pages as backgrounds as I move along. I hardly ever have a plan to begin ( aside from what products I will begin using) and I basically just create problems with the paint and then try and reconcile those problems to some kind of solution.

On this day, this particular page was the first that I created. It is short, sweet & simple in its solution. I hope you enjoy the video.

Through the Leaves – Mixed Media Art Journal Page

20190519_163844-2.jpgHello Lulu Art peeps!

Dani here again…were you expecting Kate?

She is having a blast, on holidays in Canada, so I am here for another video. Today’s page follows directly on from my last video… using my palette paper. You have probably seen that I use a large journal under all my small ones as a palette? This makes it so easy to begin a new background and use all that left over paint. Lulu Art has a 10″ x 14″ Dina Wakley Media Journal that would be prefect size for this!!DW-352284-2I am using Dina’s new 2019 range. Pastel paints and scribble sticks – set 3, along with the ‘Branches’ mask and stencils.

Again, I am mixing all the new range with the older ranges. They are perfectly matched to do this and the new sets add so much tonal depth to the page – I am really loving all these new additions.

I also grab one of Dina’s collage tissue faces to use as a focal point

Hello again Lulu Art!
Have you taken a look at the New Dina Wakley products that Kylie has in store yet?… seriously AMAZING!

So I thought I would have a play

20190519_135147.jpg

The new square 6×6 watercolour journal and the new pastel paint range are both so easy to use with the existing bright heavy body acrylic range… I started the page with one of Dina’s stencils called ‘Wallpaper’

Next, I cracked open a favourite… the Collage Collective collage book….

DW-568519-2

If you love Dina’s work, you will not be disappointed with this journal fodder. Be warned though…the only thing you may have trouble with is actually cutting it up, as this collage book is beautiful just as it is!! – (I had to have one for keeps and one for using with this one!! )

Hope you have fun having a quick flick through during the video!

Wow! April is almost here… 2019 is flying by! Makes the time that I spend creating all the more precious.

I had super fun this month, really enjoying the end results of my page.

I started with Dina Wakley Media – wallpaper – stencil in fuschia on a tangerine background. I then collaged a fab napkin that I had found with gold foil spots.

DWK-343164-2T

Next, I had a play with some texture paste flowers through an Art by Marlene stencil by The Crafter’s Workshop – TCW691 – Songful Flowers

Once I had those done… the Christine Adolph flower stamps by Prima just took over!

PR-364406-2Hope you enjoy how my page turned out as much as I did.

Just Delightful – Mixed Media Art Journal Page

So lovely to be back here at Lulu Art for 2019… !!

Back into my journal again… and you know I love to splash the paint around in there!
So… considering that I will be working closely with the “Art by Marlene” brand this year and Lulu Art stocks such a wide range of her lovely products, I thought I would grab one of her stencils, and a couple of Studio Light stamps in her range and see where we end up.

First I scribbled on some Liquitex black gesso (a staple for me) and then went at it with this gorgeous TCW (The Crafter’s Workshop) stencil TCW811 – floral statement

TCW-487707-2TUsing Dina Wakley heavy body acrylics in cheddar, eggplant, fuschia and turquosie I set to working up a background.

Then with these two stamps, I created this little story.

Colour Me Positive

Ordinary People – Mixed Media Art Journal Page

So nice to be here again!
I cannot believe it is almost October… term 4 of the school year is almost upon me with its many speech days and dance recitals (wish me luck!)

Super glad to be able to set some arty time aside to wip up this cute art journal page for you.

2018-09-30 17-758389339..jpg

Simple & sweet, using Jane Davenport’s fab A4 washi sheets.

AME-386603-2

These washi pages are so beautiful, just as they are. They make for a wonderful focal point on a quick page of relaxation!

I have also been stencil shopping and now have a whole bunch of new stencils that I cannot wait to take for a spin. You should check out all the stencils Kylie has available… so many to choose from!

I use three within the background for this page.

TCW601s- Poppy Field; TCW761s – Solemn branches; TCW450s – Art Deco Leaves

… with all the colour splashed around this page I felt I needed a little relief and found it by using the Stamper’s Anonymous Flower Garden cling stamps.

2

I stamped them in simple black ink on white card.

Lastly, a little doodling with some Dye-na-flow inks in brush pens (an old favourite) and a quick sentiment to finish off.

Blossom – Mixed media art journal page

Hello lovelies!!

A super quick journal page today, especially for anyone who is a little shy about drawing.

blossom4

I thought I would put together a page using Jane Davenport’s ‘Whimsical Girls’ book that you can purchase from Lulu Art.

The book is designed with tear out pages and different types of paper so you can work right onto them and cut them out, add them to your journal pages, or in fact, journal right within the book… so many pretty images to choose from!

whimsy book
I was also itching to use TCWs new mini botanical stencil designed by Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk. Lulu Art now has the full range of Marlene’s new products and I can’t wait to get my hands on those either.

I have already made a number of pages with this stencil… just so pretty!

Finally, I added Christine Adolf’s ‘Poppyfield’ stamp by Prima.

Create Your Own World – Mixed Media Art Journal Page

2018-06-10 22-1460642158..jpg

Hello lovelies!!
My little Dylusions dyalog journal is almost full… can’t wait to do a flip-through video shortly. It is always so rewarding to see all the pages all together!

So today I added another quick page into my ‘backgrounds’ journal.

I used a simple concept… and have broken it down into basically 6 steps
1 – Gesso down – in this case, black gesso.

gesso1

2 – Lift some back up through a stencil using baby wipes. This stencil is CELL THEORY by TCW

stencil1

3 – Collage down – using Dina Wakley collage papers

paper1

4 – Stencil over – on the right the stencil is Donna Downey – GRASS stencil

stencil2

5 – Choose a focal point – I chose the silhouette you can see in the above photo
6 – Shading, sentiment, detail and doodles – added shading to the figure, a small sentiment, doodles in paint pens and white sharpie details

Enjoy watching the complete video. It is quite short so won’t delay you too much
Have fun and hope you give this type of journal page a try.

Enjoy!!
